How a client got rid of industrial noise and regained work comfort thanks to acoustic curtain enclosures
The problem that was ringing in my ears
At our client in the advertising industry, the daily routine for employees looked like this: four large-format milling machines were running at full speed, and alongside them were industrial vacuum cleaners and vacuum pumps. And it was these machines that put on the biggest show.
How big?
- Vacuum cleaners: 95.1 dB
- Milling machines: 86.8 dB
- And the vacuum pump on the milling machine during assembly reached… 102.2 dB.
This noise level isn’t just uncomfortable. It’s a real health hazard and exceeds occupational health and safety standards.
The client didn’t want “patchwork.” They wanted a solution that would truly quiet the machine room and improve working conditions.
And that’s where we come in—SONARCH.
Diagnosis: Noise takes no prisoners
During the site visit, we checked noise sources and exposure levels. Our conclusion? The noise wasn’t a “disturb.” It was the main enemy, sapping people’s focus and energy.
We had to attack the source.
A game-changing solution: sound-absorbing enclosures made from acoustic curtains
Yes, it’s true: we were the first in Poland to use acoustic curtains in industrial enclosures.
Why them?
Because they combine the three most important features of good soundproofing:
- they absorb sound from both sides,
- they are durable (fire, oil, and chemical resistant),
- and, crucially, they can be quickly opened, moved, and unfastened.
In other words: effectiveness without disrupting service operations.
How did we do it?
- We tailored each enclosure to a specific machine.
- We intentionally left one wall open—it allows for ventilation without compromising acoustics.
- The entire enclosure is mounted on casters to provide complete service access.
- The curtains are connected with industrial Velcro—sealed and aesthetically pleasing.
The result? It looks modern. It works as it should. It makes life easier for production staff.
Effects that you can hear… or rather: that you CAN’T hear
This is the moment when numbers speak louder than words.
Greatest noise reductions (LAeq):
| Location | Before | After | Reduction |
| Vacuum pump | 102,2 dB | 86,4 dB | 15,8 dB |
| Milling machine operator’s station | 85,5 dB | 81,5 dB | 4,0 dB |
| Vacuum cleaner | 91,9 dB | 84,3 dB | 7,6 dB |
What does this mean in practice?
- People work in a safe environment.
- Operators don’t have to contend with noise to perform simple tasks.
- The production hall has become quieter and more ergonomic.
- Noise impacting the rest of production has been drastically reduced.
These aren’t “pretty numbers.” This is a real change you feel the moment you enter the hall.
Summary: The client regained comfort, and we – further proof that it is worth doing things differently
The implementation of sound-absorbing enclosures made of acoustic curtains allowed:
- effectively muting the most annoying noise sources,
- improving working conditions for operators,
- meeting occupational health and safety standards,
- maintaining full mobility and access to machinery.
This is an example of how innovation doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to be effective. And tailored.
